The first paper main objective was to assess effectiveness of a manualized parenting intervention in rural Uganda. Validity is a methodological element (Sarantakos 1994).Internal validity relates to “sound contest between researchers observations and theoretical ideas which external validity refers to the “amount of generalizability of finding” (Lacompte,1992).Guba Lincoln,1994, on his discussion on paradigm and assessment of qualitative research brings in the terminology of credibility which he defines as the ability of findings to be believable and which is in line with validty. On other hand he gives the equivalent terminology for reliability as transferability which relate to the possibility of findings to be applied to other contexts. For qualitative validity to be achieved, research must be done professionally, accurately systematically and transparently. Therefore validity denotes the extent to which an account accurately represents the social phenomenon to which it refers (Hammarsley, 1990 p5).In qualitative research it concerns the interpretation of the observations whether the research is calling what is measured the right name (Kirk Miller 1986; 9).It is about the integrity of the conclusion that one generates form a piece of research (Bryman 2008:31). Validity is truthful’ with reference to the bridge between construct and data (Lauren 2003, pg. 185) as well as data and conclusion. Mohammmed Ali, points out that accurate achievement of the latter remains a challenge. Reliability on the other hand is methodological concern in qualitative research. It checks to what extend methods and procedures are used and its openness to
