A qualitative observational study was conducted in South Africa by (Mathew, Abraham & Jewkes, 2013) to investigate the mental health needs of 30 sexually abused children (8-17 years) through a semi structured interview. The study measured three areas of mental health, including depression, anxiety and PTSD using standardized mental health assessment screening tool to assess psychological adjustment of the children. The study found high levels of mental health symptoms with nearly 50% of the children meeting the requirement for clinical diagnostic criteria for anxiety and just over two third satisfying the required criteria full symptoms of PTSD two to four weeks after
