This qualitative multi-case study design will evaluate police officers opinions, and perceptions of the law enforcement sexual assault program called You Have Options as an effective strategy in responding to victims who report a sexual assault. The study will also evaluate if the strategy is an effective means of police legitimacy and if it is procedurally just for sexual assault victims. With the underreporting of sexual assault, barriers to reporting sexual assault, police attitudes, and traditional techniques law enforcement has used to respond to sexual assault; victims have not gotten the support they need and police officers ability to obtain necessary information to hold offenders accountable is diminished.
