Qualitative Methods Application – Case Study
The generational gap in the workplace is a fact that can be attested by various studies and research on workplace conditions. The situation where each generation defines their own preferences and experiences is an explicit scenario that commonly occurs in organizations throughout our industry. The major results that are experienced with the generational gap are a lack of effective intergenerational communication because the generations work side by side (Weeks, 2017).

In this case, the major hypothesis includes: the generational gap has caused breakdown in intergenerational communication among the organizations employees. The other assumption is that effective communication has an effect in bridging the generational gap. Therefore, the sample population is 100 participants who are all employees. The participants are composed of 60 males and 40 females following issues of gender sensitivity in the workplace. The age is also a concern, and the participants are all of the diverse ages, that is, between 30 years and 50 years. The major features that are also recognized in the data creation, in this case, include cultural diversity, religious diversity, and educational backgrounds. After setting all the assumptions and the data in place, surveys and qualitative interview measures are used for collecting the data. Some of the benefits that were experienced with the use of questionnaire include: it is a reliable method where the respondent feels much comfortable to open up and write the correct response. Also, since the questionnaires did not have names of the respondents, there was enough proof that many of the respondents gave an accurate and right answer. However, the challenge that was also experienced through using questionnaire is that: some of the respondents left blank spaces which made it difficult to make analysis and conclusions of the data collected. Also, cases of discrepancy were realized in the results due to various almost similar but inaccurate
