Qualitative Health Care

Great Essays
Poor practice, negligence and harm has been identified in part one as an issue, resulting in health inequalities in the service user. This result stands as a clear contradiction, what the organisation’s mission promotes to reduce the health, but also financial inequality which exists in the community (Family Action Annual Report, 2014). Thus, this essay will outline a critical discussion in context of the recognised problem. It can be argued that the intention of qualitative leadership and management is to deliver facilities to the public in a proper, competent, reasonable, and tolerable style. However, it can be stated that this can be only accomplished by bringing together, but also by coordinating diverse key resources, such as, the finances, …show more content…
This theory can be underlined with Northouse (2013), who argued that the personality of the individual influences the psychodynamic approach in leadership, in terms of constant behaviour traits (Northouse,2013, p.224). Northouse (2013) argument can be linked with Freud (1939) a genie in psychoanalysis who came to the similar conclusion that personality characteristics of individuals are deeply rooted and it is difficult to change …show more content…
Nevertheless, in contradiction, it can be stated, that also those who have a strong ability can develop their skills through training and practice (Katz,2009, p.46). However, to support the team leader in developing her ( team) leader skills it is suggested initially identifying her team role by applying Belbin’s self-perception inventory ,a self-assessment test which allows identifying the individual’s strength and weaknesses, please see attached link ( Belbin, 2010,p.22).Despite this, it can be argued that the management should have also considered how matters of power were working in this conflict between the team leader and other team members for an active conflict resolution, which would link then automatically back to the mission, goals and aims of the organisation (Northouse,2013,p.257).With regard to the provided example we can see how effectively the authentic action wheel can work. Nevertheless, this example shows also the incompetence of the management in a conflict situation. Managers should attempt to be good leader and thus requires management skills such as, visions about what can be achieved, and this must be then linked with others to develop strategies for accomplishing the visions to be effective (WHO ,2017, p.2). It can be argued that if the management

Trait theory set out to distinguish successful leaders from unsuccessful ones based on the leaders' behavioural and personality characteristics, and to also identify what distinguishes leaders from followers. Today, it is widely regarded as an outdated assumption and although the traits identified by trait theory are characteristics which some people may naturally possess, it is now thought they can be learned and implemented by leaders who do not necessarily naturally possess the said characteristics and that leaders derive their authority from experience. Basic traits that an effective leader must possess are; self-awareness, self-control, motivation and…

A paradigm of leadership, as such, provides one with the personal guiding principles necessary to effectively navigate one’s role in a group or organization. When I asked about her understanding of leadership, Cathy first and foremost distinguished positional leadership from personality leadership. The former, she said, is based on power, whereas the latter is based on skills and attitudes. “There are plenty of positional leaders who lack personal leadership and there are plenty of personality leaders who lack position or power,” she elaborated. Cathy went on to assert that how an individual navigates an organization and one’s role in an organization determines the quality of leadership.…

As I have been exposed to all different kinds of leadership style in the Coast Guard and out in corporate America, my definition of leadership has evolved. When I first started out in a leadership position, I was a firm believer that certain people are born leaders and others aren’t. While I still believe partly in this, I also believe that good and bad leadership styles can be taught. One thing I think cannot be taught is changing people’s personalities.…

Not only was this assignment interesting, but extremely informative, as well. While I have always known my personality type from Myers-Briggs, I had never actually sat down and analyzed much of it or even my leadership skills, for that matter. As for my leadership skills, they have always been lacking, as I tend to be a pleaser as opposed to being one that feels comfortable having control – it is intimidating and daunting to me. Nevertheless, this is not to be an assessment, but rather an evaluation and here are the results I have found.…

Individuals and their personalities play a very key role in organizational behavior. In order for an organization to function at the highest level of productivity, managers must focus on empowering individuals in order to strengthen the group rather than enforcing autocratic leadership to force the individuals to serve the needs of the group. Managers themselves also need to know their own strengths and weaknesses based on their personality types as well as common strengths and weakness for personality types present in their employees. For instance, a people with an Introversion-iNuition-Feeling-Perception (INFP) personality type might be best motivated for the purpose of serving the well-being of others; however, these same INFP personality…

“So you, as a leader, must manage these conflicting role expectations with communication and compromise” (G. Lumsden, D. Lumsden & Wiethoff, 2010, pg. 264). The role of leader influences your personality in regards to making you a more independent-minded individual. “They proposed that leaders possessed certain personality traits courage, decisiveness, intelligence, attractiveness, and so on that made them intrinsically followable, bureaucracy be damned” (Rothman, 2016, pg. 66). Leaders and their members all have a common goal to successfully create a strong team. Leadership is the qualities to motivate, set goals, teamwork, strategize, manage and to overcome challenges which work to accomplishing the end goal.…
