Background
QUU has identified the Ipswich local government area as a priority area where relationships with state members could be further developed.
This briefing note seeks to outline where opportunities for QUU exist to develop relationships and will:
● identify current challenges state members have with issues relating to water distribution-retailer and supplier enquiries
● outline potential engagement opportunities for QUU
● list all state members of the Queensland Parliament with electoral boundaries in the Ipswich local government area.
Dealing with water related issues
As representatives of the Queensland Government, state members receive enquiries from their constituents about any number of matters, but the ultimate objective for a local member is rapid resolution of each issue.

At the board's upcoming meeting in Ipswich, it is recommended that QUU:
● reiterate their existing offering of a single point of contact to all elected members
● offer a briefing to any elected member to detail QUU's role and service offering
● foreshadow its ongoing consideration of additional engagement activities.
Building upon this, in the coming months, it is recommended that QUU:
● send a letter to each state member to introduce QUU and offer a one-on-one meeting with the state member and/or elector office
● hold a face-to-face meeting with each state member and/or their electorate office to detail QUU service offering
● reiterate their dedicated point of contact for all elected members in the Ipswich area.

Providing opportunities for local members to bypass the general enquiry process is a useful strategy for QUU to demonstrate QUU’s willingness to work collaboratively with local members, and to assist them in resolving constituent
