A corrective measure taken in this direction was the adoption of QR approaches to supply chain management, in order to react faster to market trends and to reduce the risk of the product being heavily overstocked or out-of-stock. Implementation of a QR based system would improve the performance of the supply chain and thus reflect positively on the division’s profits. Yet, there are a few factors determined the FPS percentage as it could only be obtained when the products were available at the right time and right place, or else will increase the cost of inventory. An effective FPS approach involved an accurate inventory management to cope with demands at sales periods because it depends on the availability of stocks and the traits of each location's buying pattern. There were difficulties in predicting the trading patterns of customer demand or even forecasting the customers’ behaviors. This has led to the ineffectiveness in their design effort and ability to get to the right place at the right time. Subsequently, stock management results in excess inventory or stock out due to the bullwhip effect with the inaccurate trading pattern forecast. Most of the time, the appropriateness of the collections typically based on the designers’ understandings of customer base and latest styling trends. In fact, there is no guarantee to forecast customer preference and future trends. Product’s demand can be a boost because of the successful new launch collection, or vice versa.
