Through childhood, Pythagoras was born to a merchant (by the name of Mnesarchus) who happened to be from Tyre. Pythagoras studied under a diversity of teachers as a child. He was born in Eastern Aegon of Samos, Greece, a place where he would also spend the rest of his childhood. Later on, Pythagoras married Theano (first pupil of Croton), where they later had about seven children (historians are not completely sure of this number, but this number seemed the most reasonable according to the documents). Like Pythagoras, Theano was also a philosopher (wrote “On the Virtue”). Like many intellectuals, Pythagoras was very outspoken, therefor creating many enemies.
