The mathematician and philosopher, Pythagoras, was born in the 6th century BC in Samos. He is mostly known for his contributions to math. He invented the pythagorean theorem in his ancient days. Everything he knew was taught to him by teachers he knew in his early childhood. He then moved to egypt and spread his theories and knowledge to those who wanted to know about his theories. The theory he is mostly known for is the pythagorean theorem and it works like this; it states that the hypotenuse in a triangle is equal to the other two sides of a triangle. This also can lead to the pythagorean triples meaning that the numbers that are given are in triples and the bigger number within those three numbers is the hypotenuse and the other two numbers are the other two sides

His mother's name was named Pythias. His father Mnesarchus was a trading merchant, he was able to travel with his father sometimes for work. Since he was with his father traveling, he was able to attend a school in syria. Pythagoras met the philosopher and scientist Thales, he influenced Pythagoras to take some interest in traveling and exploring. He also had interest in poetry because of his teachers. He left Somas to explore Egypt in 535 BC and learned a lot in his traveling and exploring and also from other philosophers and scientist including the priests in their temples. When persia invaded egypt the captured pythagoras and held him as a prisoner and sent him to the city babylon. In 520 BC they released him from prison and went back to home somas. He began a school called the semicircle and in 518 BC he also taught at a religious school that contained all members of society.
