For my final project I have chosen to feature Egypt 's Pyramids of Giza and Mexico 's Teotihuacan, which are pictured on the pages above, as my subjects. The Pyramids of Giza were constructed between 2575-2465 BCE. They belong to Egypt 's Old Kingdom, and were built for three of the 4th dynasties pharaohs. Along with those things, both cultures placed their pyramids in locations that not only went along with their mythologies, but the nature of their regions. While I focused mainly on the architecture of the movements, I 'm coming away from this class with a new found respect and awe at what the people of old were able to accomplish with the limited tools and resources they had. Researching and learning about these two groups of pyramids has helped me gain a new understanding of the history of their time periods, not only art wise, but with what was going on in the times they were constructed. More so, I have a better understanding of how the people of the time have helped shape and influence history. Many other groups of people have been inspired by the designs and of eras past, that one can look at buildings and other forms of art around the world and see bits of the past shining

Based on the archeologist Jorge Guadalupe Gastal, one of the main architectures is known as the “Pyramid C.” Pyramid C is the fundamental sight because it is the largest structure covered with five taluds and its alignment to the other buildings in proximity, such as the smaller figure, of Pyramid B. Both of them are orthogonal to one another creating a ninety degree angle, and were both built around the same time. However, Pyramid C is the most damaged structure, where much of the stairway has been destroyed. It was most likely covered with relief panels. In order to highlight the monumental architecture of the Pyramid C, it was flanked by two other buildings that were separated by passageways.…

A time period that would be similar to this would be when the construction of the Colosseum in Rome occurred. The construction of the Colosseum and the Pyramids are similar because the pyramids took about 10 to 20 years to build and the colosseum took about six to eight years to build. Both of the buildings took a long time to make and they both used or are thought to use slaves. The Egyptians used advanced technology such as ramps, levees, and bridges in the construction pyramids where the Romans used advanced technology such as arches, cement, ramps and levees to build the colosseum.
