Pygmalion Research Paper

In class we read a play, Pygmalion, and learned about the greek myth to compare and contrast the two. There was a lot of differences between the two, but there was also a few similarities. I thought that the play was different then the myth because a lot happened in the play. The greek myth was about Pygmalion who fell in love with a statue. The play was about Higgins who turned a flower girl into a lady. They are both have the same concept just different ways of going about it. In the play and the myth are similar in very few ways, but have the same concept. Higgins and Pygmalion both hate women. They both despise their qualities and they both try to make perfect women. They both have the same concept as in trying to make a girl into a perfect lady. Both of their goals were to make the girls perfect and they both achieved that. He tries to act like he does not care, but everyone could tell he cared. Higgins thinks that women make everyone upset and ruin things that are perfect. Higgins is very mean to Eliza and he bullies her. He is heartless to women and Eliza does not like that because she thinks she deserves to be treated better. By the end of the play he is still mean, but eventually starts to admire Eliza in a daughter way. Eliza thinks she was better off without Higgins because she actually enjoyed being a flower girl and now she will never be able to go back to being one because he changed her into the worse she thinks. In the play Higgins changes Eliza to win a bet and his own satisfaction. When he won the bet he did not pay any attention to Eliza and she left. There was no happy ending between Higgins and Eliza because Higgins is like a father to
