From act 1, when she mistakenly thought she was marked down by the "detector" because she was selling flower to the gentlemen, she repeated herself loudly, "He's no right to take away my character. My character is the same to me as any lady's." She stubbornly wanted everyone know she was not a thief or a prostitute. She doesn't want anyone to look down at her. This quote is enough to emphasize Shaw create Eliza as a high self-esteem and self-respect character from the beginning. After she met Higgins and heard that he could train people to speak better English and helped them get a better job, Eliza found Higgins with all her saving and asked Higgins to train her so she could get a job in the florist's shop. Indeed, she wanted to change her speaking in order to change her destiny, and that's why she changed under Higgins's will and endured the rudeness and non-respect of Higgins, which mean she wanted to change her destiny by her hard working independently. During the training, Higgins took Eliza to all kind of social meeting to test Eliza's performance. At the end of the ball dance, Eliza performed and spoke well. and even the ambassador's translator thought she was some kind of princess. However, not only she finally changed from a low class flower girl to a high class lady, there are also big change inside of Eliza. Recall that she accepted the training of Higgins
