While these things have withered the people’s faith in the American Dream, some don’t see things so cynically. The hope some see in the ideal isn’t entirely based on truth, however, as many choose a positive outlook despite the reality. Some see the rising number of people, both young and old, heading to colleges for higher education as signs that citizens are still trying to attain a better life, but this doesn’t consider what awaits them once they have a degree in their hands.
