Pursuing Nursing Personal Statement

The main reason I chose to pursue nursing was because of the money and health benefits. It eventually changed after I witnessed my father on his deathbed. My father had stage 4 lung cancer and before my father died, we all decided that it would be best if he stopped doing chemotherapy and radiation and go into hospice care. The internet has defined hospice as, “a home providing care for the sick, especially the terminally ill.” They had one job and it was to provide care and comfort for the patient and their family. My father’s final moments were anything but comfortable and my family was traumatized by the events that happened the night before he died. We basically had to do everything ourselves. We had to change his IV, change his diapers,
