Pursuing My Summer Work Study

Decent Essays
I did not have a summer job since I was taking two courses and dedicated myself to volunteering full time for 8 hours a day in a research lab for the whole summer. Since I was already guaranteed a position to gain valuable lab experience, I made the decision to accept this placement rather than applying for other work studies or part-time work.

During the school year, since I am volunteering part time in the same lab since to work on a future project that is a continuation of the previous research completed over the summer. Thus, due to my continued involvement I did not apply for another work study position. I am also volunteering as a Chemistry tutor three times a week alongside taking a full course load. I want to try my best to maintain a high GPA with my full course load and volunteering, thus I chose not to apply for part-time job.

Julie appears to have used everything that the organization has to offer. They allowed her to take her leave and use the 12 week unpaid leave which is authorized in the policy. According to Grosdidier, (2010) this type of leave is coordinated with the Family and Medical Leave Act. As an organization HRM I would feel bad for her what she is going through but the way I read the policy she would have to work 1250 hours again to get another 12 week unpaid leave.…

In Chapter 5 it was interesting to me to read in the section about temp job that a temp job can be better than an internship. Instead of going to south beach for spring break that it is better to stay back and volunteer is a plan that I can agree with. On August 8, I sat at the movie theaters with my friend. After a long week of doing what teenagers do most over summer break, nothing, I decided to spend my last available weekend at the movies, before the first day back to school. I took my seat behind a family with a little girl around the age of 3. The movie was about five minutes started, when the girl suddenly began screaming. I ignored it at first, thinking that her parents would eventually jump in and solve it.…

First, taking summer courses help me graduate faster than if I just went the traditional fall and spring route it would take me even longer to graduate. Next, being a psychology major there are a series of special topics courses that are only offered in the summer here. These special topics courses are always very fun and interesting courses to take.…

Every high school student often looks forward to summer vacation, but are not too eager of completing their English 10 Pre-AP required reading. Many find the choice of texts as monotonous, which is why the English department should choose books students will enjoy reading in the summer months. Two novels that the English department should include in their list of required reading are the two novels I read for my summer reading assignment The Grapes of Wrath and 1984 because of their important life lessons, uniqueness, and the connections students can make. These two novels provide exceptional life lessons that several students can learn and that I personally learned as well. For instance, The Grapes of Wrath serves as an explicit example of how man will…
