“Strive for excellence!”, “Keep pushing yourself to the best of your ability.” , and “Have heart.” These are just a few of the many words of encouragement my dad would tell me as I grew up. At the time, I thought he was only referring to the sports I was playing. Whether it was gymnastics, softball, basketball, or volleyball, he was always pushing me to be the best I could be. I never dreamed these words would mean so much to me and ensue me to aspire my accomplishments thus far and the accomplishments I strive for in the future. That being said, my father 's words continue to inspire me every single day and have led me to where I am today and will lead me to pursuing my future career goals as a CRNA.

As I reflect on my experiences as a patient care technician, my nursing school career, and my experience thus far as a critical care RN, there has always been one thing on my mind that remains constant: "What more can I learn?", "How can I move forward from where I am today?", and "How can I strive for excellence and make a difference?" First, as a patient care tech right out of high school, I found the passion I have for the medical field. As a young adult I truly fell in love with the atmosphere of the hospital, and my curiosity was enormous and unending. With each shift I worked I wanted to explore further and learn more. I was constantly attempting to edge my way into any situation that I could learn from and be involved in. By this time, I was ascertained that nurses…
