As a beauty advisor, I worked diligently and pleased my store manager with the amount of work ethic and enthusiasm I had which, in turn, opened the doors to many new opportunities. The greatest opportunity I had was to train to be a pharmacy technician. At the time, though; I had no idea what pharmacy even was and what it entailed, but I was excited to find out.
I began training in the pharmacy shortly after my 18th birthday and my high school graduation. It was quite challenging understanding pharmacy policies and procedures, learning SIG coding and attempting to decipher doctors ' handwriting. At times I felt uncomfortable asking the pharmacy manager for assistance on how to perform certain procedures, especially when it came to billing insurance companies. I believe that my years of experience in this profession and the leadership position I obtained as a technician will help to attest that I can be a leader as a Pharmacist. I would also like to someday be a preceptor for new pharmacy students and furthermore be an inspiration to those students who find themselves in a similar situation to mine and let them know that it is feasible to reach your ambitions and dreams despite having a rough road along the way.
