I am pursuing an internship because in an internship I will learn about accounting by carrying out real projects. As a result, I would not only develop accounting skills, but also conceive a successful career path. Furthermore, an internship will allow me to network with many new and experienced professionals in my future line of work. Consequently, I was faced with a slew of complications. First, was balancing my time. Because I joined this group, I had six hours of rehearsals every week along with numerous performances. This time commitment meant that I had to learn to be efficient when doing school work. The way that I found best worked for me is to allocate time to just sit down and do work without any distractions. This was hard for me at first having access to so many ways to procrastinate, but since I had committed so much time to my group I knew I had to make the most of the rest of my time which gave me incentive to focus. As a student in the BUSI 440 course I have found myself really enjoying and looking forward to the assignments. During the first weeks of the course, we were assigned to read over two articles explaining why internships matter. While reading such articles I noticed how much I agreed with the information, in “The Positive Implications of Internships on Early Career Outcomes” the author Nathalie Saltikoff brought up the point that students graduating with internship experiences in general are more likely than students without experiences to find employment. This statement made me realize how important internships truly are. If I look back at my past internship and work experiences, I notice that I was able to expand my networking circle and improve my thought process.…

Therefore, I had to be organised and manage my time well. To achieve this, I constructed a timeline to follow with due dates for certain tasks. As part of my leadership course at Grand Canyon University I was assigned to volunteer/internship in an experience that would enrich my future career. I was very fortunate to work out an agreement with the Director of Security and Safety at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona and the home of the NHL Arizona Coyotes. My current career has me working at the University of Phoenix Stadium over seeing responsibilities in security and guest services. By volunteering to work at an NHL arena, I felt it would give me insight on how other professional sporting facilities operate with the belief I would gain some experience and takeaways that would become better at my current job and possibly expose me to a bigger world within the sports/entertainment industry. During my time working at the arena I kept journal entries of each of the games that I worked at and used those documents to help reflect on what knowledge I have gained and how my Grand Canyon University experience enhanced my volunteer involvement.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

During economic downturn, it is clear that most companies are focused on budget cuts and reduce costs in different ways in order to save themselves from financial crises. Among these ways, layoff and hiring freezes are the main ones that companies’ decision making bodies are argued on as the best cost reduction methods. According to WSN Editorial Board, “In the past decade we have gone from the best labor market in our economic history to arguably one of the worst. It is going to take years, if not decades, to completely recover from the fallout,” said Mood’s Analytics economist Mark Zandi in the Los Angeles Times. I learned quickly he was going to treat me like an adult, like everyone else in the office and expect just as much from me as he does the other three employees in his office. As I mentioned in the midterm evaluation, pat, being my uncle, knew I had an emphasis in social media but didn’t quite understand what that meant. As I started to implement social media into their company, he asked me at a meeting why I would do certain things and how I got those ideas.…
