Pursuing A Degree In Early Childhood Education

Reflection Paper 1
Before I started Colorado Christian University I had no idea I was actually going to be able to go there. One reason was at the time I was looking into it they did not have my degree program in Early Childhood Education. One day I was talking with my counselor at Red Rocks
Community College and she had mentioned to me they had just added it. It was like a dream come true for me. My goal for going to CCU is to obviously become a teacher to young children, but also to make a difference in their lives, and for them to actually remember me. Not just be one of their teachers they have in their school years.
I have always wanted to go to Africa and teach. When I made this decision I knew right away I wanted to pursue my degree

My interest in Chapman was sparked this past summer. I attended the California Leadership Academy (CLA ) from July 15-17, and I got to spend the weekend on the Chapman University campus. I immediately fell in love with the beautiful campus. I personally like to spend my time in the outdoors, so a beautiful campus is one of the main factors I look for in potential colleges. After spending the entire day on campus with CLA, I would go back to my temporary dorm and do some research about Chapman University.…

We were all born with the innate ability to smile, it is a skill we never had to learn but an automatic instinct that we use to express a sense of pleasure or amusement. There are millions of reasons behind why someone smiles, and through my future profession as a dentist, I hope to be one of those reasons. A person's smile plays a major role in their self-esteem, it is one of the few expressions that can capture the entirety of what we are feeling. Our smiles indicate what makes us happy in life, and at a very young age, I became aware of exactly what made me happy- dentistry. At an early age, I had the privilege of accompanying my father on several different procedures.…

In some cultures, children do not attend early childhood learning before they go to a “primary school”. Some of these families are: Financially disadvantaged, Indigenous, families that may have a child with disability or a culturally and linguistically child. Because of this reason, this experience can be very daunting so as educators we need to make these families and children as welcome as possibly while also making a smooth transition into early learning education. We must strive for equity with any culture or circumstance.…

For some students, choosing to attend college after high school is an easy decision. Some are expected by their families to continue into higher education post high school graduation. I know a few people that are so motivated to attend college that they already know for sure what they are going to major in before they were even freshmen in high school. For me, I was not falling into that category. College was something I did not consider throughout my time in high school.…
