Pursuing A Career Field Of Nursing Essay

After years of going through career portfolios, I have decided to pursue a career in the field of nursing. From elementary through high school, my counselors made me do career portfolios. Mine would change quite often: teacher, veterinarian, doctor, etc. Growing up and even now, I have lived in the same home as a nurse, my grandmother. She is more of a phlebotomist than a nurse but she still has a nursing degree. I remember going to the doctor’s office she worked at and I loved playing with the medical instruments. I have always had a big heart and I loved helping people, which is a big factor to being not just any nurse but a good one! When I was in high school, I was not quite sure what I wanted to do but I knew I wanted to be in the medical/healthcare field. Closer to the time of me graduating I started thinking of going to ultrasound school to be an ultrasound technician. I did my research and found that those jobs were harder to come upon. So I turned back to nursing and I am going to attempt to pursue it. I am furthering my education at Jefferson Davis Community College. In order to get my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree I will have to have: Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II and General Microbiology (Stars Guide). I am hoping to get accepted into the nursing program at JDCC, if not I may transfer to Reid State Technical College or another university to finish my schooling.
