I bolted to the wing. Raj had just caught the rebound. I ran past Akhil towards the hoop, confident Raj knew what to do. He threw the ball over Ivan’s arms. I jumped up, caught the ball, spun, and followed through with the alley-oop. The score was 21-18. Raj and I beat Ivan and Akhil for the first time in a while. “We got this next week,” said Ivan exhausted. “Alright, good luck with that,” Raj responded. The four of us left the court, going wherever the day would lead us. I was led back home to curl up on my armchair with my new copy of “Joyland” by Stephen King.
There are a multitude of things that I enjoy within the academic sphere, but life needs more than one aspect. Basketball is one of the aspects of my life, and it is the one I enjoy the most outside of academics. …show more content…
Over the years, I began to join leagues and tryout for teams. Although I never made it as far as I wanted to in basketball, I found out what my true calling was, academics. After I started focusing my life around academics, basketball never diminished as my favorite pastime. The great workouts, the stress reliefs, and basically all the great times basketball has given me will always keep it as my most enjoyable non-scholastic
