I believe that the purpose of this story “Civil Peace” is to show that even if there are hardships in life you can succeed. There are many good things that happen to Jonathan but there is also bad things. Jonathan is a very lucky person because after the war he had could use his bike for transportation and for earning money. He has his family and his house that he was able to get made after the war was over. One day he turned in rebel money and got money for turning it in and the same night he gets robbed of the money he had just gotten. I think that by this happening to him the auther was showing how karma wont let Jonathan have too many things happen to you without something bad happen.
