Purpose Of Out Government

Decent Essays
If the government were non existent, I would think that it would turn into something much like the Purge. Every one would go completely crazy and try to take advantage of one another. Crime would be rapid through out the country and no one would be safe. The main purpose of out government is to protect us while giving us freedom, but there still needs to be rules in order to keep order and prevent chaos in our country. This country is the greatest because it gives us our freedom and protects up at the same time.

It was not perfect, the government would be based off of civic virtue and common good. This idea eventually turned into today’s government (A Constitutional Government with three branches and a system of checks and balances). As Locke said, “ In a state of nature, most people would act with kindness, but those who don’t cause havoc.” This quote says that the people who use their power incorrectly, will destroy the government from the inside out. This is another way of saying that if the government uses a true republic as their government, it will be full of corruption.…

This government would listen to the people, help maintain natural rights and defeat anything that tried to take away these rights. Government should be put in place only to secure the rights of all man kind and never to pose any threat towards the rights of humans. If any type of government does go against independence and freedom, the people under that threatening government are allowed to abolish it and replace it with a new form of government. A famous line “that all men are created equal” is the start to the reasoning of becoming an independent state with a “for the people”…

The Constitution’s guard against tyranny was very powerful. The guard was set to protect the states and individuals from the government having absolute power. If the Constitution was not intact, the government would absolutely use their powers to their benefit because they would be untouchable. The Constitution has many ways of abolishing tyranny and making it hard for the people in power to take advantage of it. The Constitution does help against government having absolute power, mainly because issues laws that contain rights for its citizens.…

In an excerpt from Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes, he describes his theory about the conditions of a society which has no governing body to control it. When there is no government, we live in a state of nature; a state of total freedom where we can do whatever we want at any time. If there is no government, there are no set laws, and therefore no limits on human actions. There are also no formal consequences for actions that may cause harm to others. You could do anything you want if it will benefit you since there is no sure punishment.…

I think that even if there was no government present that the society would still run fruitfully and thoroughly with very few disruptions to the society. If there was no government the people in any society would start off with a few simple rules to follow so that there is no minor to major problems persisting in the group of people. In Thomas Paine’s example of a society of people living on an isolated island with no recollection of any type or form of government. Paine hypothesized that the people on the island would simply form rules to be more or less civil and not do anything to extreme. On Paine’s views on the government in general, I can agree on very few of his ideas, but there are some.…

How the government function affects everyone because of the huge effect it can have on things like the economy, and how each person lives their lives. The current United States government is falling towards a liberal ideal and this is starting to hurt the country in many ways. The liberal ideal is that the government should try to micro manage the people and try to give equal opportunity to everyone. If the U.S. took a more conservative stance, by stepping out of public matters, it would result in a better country. The conservative ideal is that there should be personal responsibilities and the government should remove itself from the citizens lives and give the people the freedom to pursue happiness because of their own goals.…
