Who I Am “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death” (Holy Bible, New International Version, Prov. 14.27) the Bible notes in proverbs, teaching of the love of God. This verse is very powerful, because with so few words, it provides so many insights on life and God’s love for people. Many people struggle with finding the purpose of life and the meaning of being human. People have come to several contradicting answers to the many questions of life. One might say there is no purpose, but we are simply here on Earth by chance. Another person might say our purpose is to serve others. But often one answer isn’t sufficient or convincing enough for one person to believe, while it may be for another. When posed with such a question, I don’t claim to know the answer. A strong relationship between believers and their church family is important, and the Bible offers a story of the church of Corinth as a great example of this significant connection (Meyer 147). Joyce Meyer, author of Conflict Free Living, tells the story of this church, pointing out the reason why the church was was so powerful was because the people were all together as one big family (147). Meyer then notes that when going their own ways, the church was not as strong as before (147). Family is always important, no matter what kind of family that may be. In many cases, it is one of the key components for what makes any individual who they are. When someone needs something, often they turn to their family for help, or advice. It is this same idea that Christians use in their church family. The people in a church family are there if needed, as if they are an actual family.
