After reading the article about evidence-based practice, I learned that EBP is not only incorporated within crime, but it is also affective in areas such as education, medicine, child welfare, and mental health. The purpose of evidence-based practice is to have "interventions" that are practiced upon scientists, proven to be safe and effective within these certain fields. Risk and need assessments are the more accurate tool in determining and offenders sentence and or responses to the sentence. Risk and need assessments are measured by how the offender will react due towards the sentence, and what programs will be most beneficial for the offender.
