Battery Lab
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine which battery brand is the best to buy.
Problem: The problem is to figure out which battery brand is the most efficient.
Hypothesis: If Duracell Quantum lasts the longest then their commercials are accurate because on the package it states “No alkaline battery lasts longer”.
Materials:
• 2 fusion AA batteries
• 2 energizer Ultimate Lithium AA
• 2 Duracell quantum AA
• 3 mini Maglite xenon lamp flashlights
Procedure:
1. Insert the batteries in each flashlight
2. Grab tape
3. Label the tape with the name of each battery
4. Place the labeled tape next to the flashlight that has that battery
5. Turn the flashlights on (as fast as possible so they can start at nearly the same time)
6. …show more content…
Check every hour (but stay in range of them)
7. Mark each time (after starting) when each flashlight give up
Data:
Battery type Hour 1 Hour 2 Hour 3 Hour 4 Hour 5 Hour 6 Hour 7
Fusion Bright Bright Bright Bright Bright Bright Bright
Duracell Bright Bight Bright Bright Bright Bight Dimming
Energizer Bright Bright bright Bright Dimming Very dim Out
The qualitative data shows that through out the hours the batteries were all pretty consistent. The only battery that seemed to be less effective is the Energizer because it was the first one that started to dim and burn out. The data also shows if the hours continued the Duracell flashlight would have burned out because it was starting to dim at the last hour. The table shows that the fusion batteries seemed to work the best.
Hours 6:12 6:27 6:36 6:39
Fusion Bright Dimming Very dim Out
Duracell Out Out Out Out
Energizer Out Out Out Out
The table shows the hours and minutes exactly when the flashlights burned out. It shows again that Fusion was the longest lasting light and that the other two died
