Attitudes of contempt toward the law are forged in this crucible and form the inner core of the beliefs of organized adult crime”(Robert Kennedy). The natives were said to have killed family members of people in town including the parents of Abigail. These four girls and a few others that were accused of being there at the time had to go into the woods to complete a ritual that is made to believe that was a conjuring of the dark and evil souls of the dead. Miller pointed out several different clues in the play as to what had been going on. The Puritans; known as a group of English Reformed Protestants who left England to “purify” the church of England. Far more different from many other religious sects during their time, based on their deep beliefs in demonic possessions. By way of example, “The Minister's Black Veil” and “The Crucible,” were novels written based on the Puritans, which both authors sought to explain their societies fear of sins. Moreover, what Parris referred to in this new work was the formation of a Puritan Church in Salem Village, which did not adopt the half way covenant, apart from the Church in Salem Town that did accept the half way covenant. Proving Abigail doesn’t care what happens to anyone as long as in the end she gets John Proctor. Not to mention no one had any suspicions of witchcraft in Salem until after the girls danced in the woods and Betty and Ruth fell “ill”.…
