I am arguing that the 2014 Super Bowl commercial, “Puppy Love” was more effective than the others by the use of persuasion (ethos, logos, pathos). Though it realistically has nothing to do with beer, the viewer’s feelings for the puppy and horse can be sublimely associated with the beer – the viewer will most likely purchase the brand of beer because of the heartwarming feeling the commercial gave them (days, weeks, months ago). Rather than focusing on all the negative things about drinking beer, Budweiser targeted the public’s feelings about animals in hopes that that would take away from the negative feelings associated with alcohol. So when you see the brand advertised you would think about the good things (horse and puppy/relationships); feelings you got from the commercial. I can walk into a convenient store and become aware of the brand (Budweiser) due to the roles/scenes that were emphasized during the commercial. I could even begin to watch a Budweiser commercial where the messages were not so subliminal and still play out/recall the scenes of the puppy and horse. I wasn’t necessarily aware of Budweiser’s popularity prior to the commercial, but I now relate the brand with animals, relationships, and feeling good. It’s effective in making you want a beer when you feel good and/or are happy. Even if I do not drink beer, I would still be familiar with the brand,
