Punch Bowl Social: Throws You in a Pool, Hopes You Can Swim
Introduction
The coolest bar/restaurant in Denver, Colorado is located on Boulevard and 1st. It has bowling, darts, pool, arcade games, ski-ball, shuffle board, classic board games, and more. The food was created by Hugh Acheson, a Top Chef judge and it is phenomenal. The cocktails are all handcrafted and you can order them by the punch bowl. The restaurant is the size of a half a football field with three bars, one of which is a huge 360 degrees shaped bar. Last month, I applied at this wonderful spot in Denver to become one of their bar backs. I was hired on the spot and started training the next day. They required three days of training before I was able to collect part of the tips from bartenders. Once the training was over, I still felt that I was not fully prepared or aware of all the duties this position entailed.

The new hire is paired with a fellow bar back (trainer) who then shows ‘the ropes’ of the operation. First step; go through the building where all the products and systems are located within PBS. Then, the trainer will explain the duties and mental checklist that needs to be completed through-out the day. There are three bars and they all have basically the same needs with a couple of minor different details. For example, the social bar has a coffee maker, ice cream machine, and a juicer that need to be cleaned regularly and broken down at the end of the night. The other bars do not have these features. The trainer also proceeds to answer any questions along the way that the trainee may have. Questions are encouraged. After doing this for a few hours, the day comes to an end and the next training day is
