Traditions, you cannot live with them and you cannot live without them. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that means that it is time to break out the family favorites. Of course at some point in life, you have enjoyed a glorious piece of pumpkin pie, or maybe you haven't, people have different taste, no judgement here. The question is have you ever had a marvelous piece of pumpkin cake? It is like the pie except it is cake. If you have never tried it, you must definitely try it now.
First things first, you need a mixing bowl, a can of pumpkin purée, two cups of white sugar, and one cup of oil. Simply beat all this together. When finished add in four eggs and beat again. Now you need a separate bowl, and in this bowl you mix two cups of all-purpose flour, two teaspoons of baking soda, not powder, with one teaspoon of cinnamon and half a teaspoon of salt. After combining these ingredients, it is time to add it to the pumpkin mix in the first bowl and beat again until it is nice and well mixed. Now all you have to do is bake it in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for half an hour in a 15x 10 inch greased baking pan.

Have you ever seen cake overflow in your mother's favorite oven? Hopefully not because that is a sight you will never want to see. The time it takes to clean the mess is like a million years! Plus, you do not get any cake! So do not forget this wall, it will save

I did find the pumpkins work well in pumpkin soup (something I've eaten a lot of lately) but I still needed something different. I recently found it: pumpkin cheesecake. I tried many recipes and finally came up with one all my own that I love. One warning: if you bake the pumpkin cheesecake without a water bath it will likely crack on the top. I'm ok with this; I think it adds to the rustic, homemade look.…

The month of October was really stressful with Drama and everything else that was going on for me, but it was worth it especially for band. The field show solo was an amazing opportunity for me and it was an honor to be given the privilege to perform it. I got to connect with more band members a lot more than I did last year. This band is the best band I have ever been a part of and I hope I can be apart of it these next two years.…

Every year on Thanksgiving break I have gone to my grandparents house to stay for the week. For me this is important because my grandparents live a good ways away and I barely get to see them. This became a tradition when I moved away from where they live because that's when our other traditions ended like on wednesdays we used to meet somewhere and eat dinner but we can’t do that any more so we thought that Thanksgiving break is a good time to go see them because we have off school and they can get off work. During the college search process, I've learned that I am a take-charge person. Before applying to college I did not have an older sibling or parent telling me what to do, therefore I had to figure everything out myself; which included family trips to visit colleges, the application process, and countless meetings that I made with my counselor to make sure I was on track. A personal tradition that my family has is that every Sunday morning my father cooks all of us pancakes and we sit and eat together before we go to church. Although having pancakes every week may seem like it would get old, it has the opposite effect, and I look forward to the quality time with my family every week.…
