This situation is even critical when it comes to the welfare of black people. Black people are often overlooked and devalued by racists like the officials in the state of Michigan. Therefore, it is important for environmental justice activists to stand strong in challenging the government when it comes to matters concerning the welfare of minority population, especially the black people. This article has helped me to learn to be steadfast in my pursuit to be an environmental justice activist. I have got to know that the government can go to any extent to devalue the black people when the government interest is involved. In Liberia, where I plan to go into advocacy and environmental justice activism, there is no racism per-se; however, the poor people face discrimination. Environmental racism is all over. It has happened before and it continues to happen. To say that Flint is the first place it is taking place is not realistic.
