Issues of is Publick Occurrences were destroyed, except for one copy that was sent to England and today can be found in the London Public Records Office. In 1692 Massachusetts Governor William Phipps appointed Harris as the state’s printer. Harris returns to London with his family in 1695 where he published his longest-running paper the London Post from 1699-1706(Paraschos). Benjamin Harris will always be remembered for bringing journalism to America but I do not see him as a man to be remembered for his character. He persecuted Catholics in England and fled to the colonies.
