Why Is Public Speaking Important?

Public speaking is the number one fear in professional men. It’s the number three fear in women. Death is number six (Geshelin, 1). Out of all the things feared public speaking usually ranks high. People would rather be the one in the casket than the one doing the eulogy. I am learning the many advantages I have when I can effectively communicate, verbally and nonverbally. Communication helps to inform, persuade, and entertain people, it also gives you confidence. With more people turning to the internet to build relationships, communicate with others, and keep current with what is going on in the world people 's communication skills are neglected. Informative speaking is one of the most common types. This is important to get information across and to share your ideas with the audience. I will use these types of speaking in a variety of places company meetings, commercials, and lectures in class. The second common type of speaking is persuasive.
