Public Speaking In Try Something New For 30 Days

Public speaking is used in all different instances as an audience judges the speaker on their delivery and comprehension of the overall message. Matt Cutts, you can be used as an example for an exemplary speech, with your involvement with the audience and the excitement in your voice. Your speech titled Try Something new for 30 days was interesting and your delivery was exceedingly well done.
I found the overall content of your speech to be engaging and persuading. The speech was relatable as you used yourself as an example from being a boring computer programmer to an adventurous mountain climber. At the beginning of your speech when you reference Morgan Spurlock, it was difficult for me to relate him to your overall message as I did not know who he was or if your phrase “the great American Philosopher” was a joke. I suggest that next time you leave a longer pause after a joke for people like me who need an extra second for the joke to “click”. This will help me to stay focused on your speech and not try to decipher what the rest of the audience was laughing at. All things considered, by the end of your speech, the content compelled me to want to try

The opening of your speech you started with your realization and led into the audience wondering how they could come to a similar fulfillment. Throughout the speech you use examples of what you have done and your accomplishments with each 30-day challenge; this really enhanced your message, as well as gave me different ideas of 30-day challenges. In your conclusion you state what you have learned and then directly address the audience with a question. I personally enjoy when speakers ask a question at the end to get me thinking about the topic and to get the audience actively involved. Not only was your speech thought provoking, the content was also well organized and the speech kept me intrigued

Amanda Wilson Professor Leightenheimer English 1102-01 23 October 2017 Role and Pathos: How Eugene Debs Creates Relatability Crafting and reciting a speech can be an incredibly difficult requirement. The main difference between these and, for example, an essay, is that enunciation and delivery can make or break a speech. With this addition also comes extra importance on understanding and reading the responses of your audience to gauge effectiveness. Speeches need to have a form of an emotional pull to them, or else they sort of inadvertently transition to lectures rather than a form of persuasion. Actions can still be carried out in more logically oriented speeches, but that passion to push someone could be lost.…

More or less, I got the reaction I wanted from the audience. I felt like it was not so boring that I lost anyone, and I definitely got a couple laughs at some of the jokes I tried. If I were to rewrite or perform my speech again, I’d probably do a few things differently. The main thing I’d do differently, would be to look up from the paper more. Before giving my speech, I did not think this would be a challenge, but once I was actually up there with all my nerves, I found it pretty difficult, to sustain speaking without looking at my script.…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…

I was recently invited to attend the Toastmasters meeting in Millington, Tennessee, however I was not entirely sure what to expect. I was, to say the least, surprised at how informal and socially casual the club is. In contrast with a TED talk’s audience, there is no harsh buzzer or overbearing timer to stare at while giving your presentation, the meeting was in fact, very relaxed and only focused on self-improvement. It was a place to hear others and be heard yourself, to give honest feedback, to improve the art of the conversation, and to master the art of public speaking.…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Most of us seek happiness in all the wrong places. Trying to fill our lives with superficial happiness and instant gratification instead of valuing life as it is.
