College begins and everyone is getting ready to return. The night before, my mind was going back and forth deciding whether I should take Public Speaking online or in campus. I decided to give it a try and take in campus. Maybe this way I could face my fear of speaking in public. Woke on a beautiful Monday August 22nd as I open my eyes I was staring at the ceiling with my heart raising as I become more awake knowing it was time. I get to the campus 40 minutes before class in a warm and humid morning walking to the classroom, observing my surrounding trying to calm my anxiety. As I get to the classroom I realize I am the first one to arrive, I turn the light on taking a deep breath. I think the hardest part for me was choosing the topic. For days, I was debating what to talk about. I decided to talk about how to build your credit score, since it was something I familiar with. As the first group of the 2-minute speech presented their speech, I released maybe I could leave the credit score topic for another time. I started noticing that my classmates were more sensitive. So, I decided to talk about my life experience in the customer service field and how it thought me three values; patience, not being judgmental, and be optimistic. In Chapter 9, I learned how to get the audience attention, preview main ideas, and effective conclusions. (page 180-189) When I presented it, I followed what I learned from the book and it went well. I noticed how effective it was to have a well organize speech. As classes went by I was feeling more confident, especially because I started to be more comfortable with my classmates and I had a better understanding to prepare a
