The first thing that I do to get ready for a speech meet in the morning is personal hygiene. Personal hygiene includes showering, cologne and deodorant, and the most important: my hair. I get the water all ready for the shower, and then I recite my script in the shower to make sure I know it and have it down. In order to get your mouth ready to talk it is key that you talk the entire way to the meet. We leave for meets and about five thirty in the morning, so everyone usually wants to sleep on the ride there. However, our coach wants us to get our jaws loose, so we talk the entire way there.The next thing that you have to do in order to get ready for the speech is tongue twisters. One of the favorites is “sally sells sea shells by the sea shore.” The last exercise I do is actually going through and doing my script. I usually go “talk to a wall” as speech kids call it. Talking to a wall is exactly what it seems like, you go do your piece in front of a wall. This is to make sure that you can get all the kinks worked out in the script and any mess ups you have in it. There is so much time that goes into making sure you succeed in a speech meet before the meet even starts.
Knowing how to dress up and look good when going to a speech meet will not only help me in speech, but in my college and adult life. When in college or after I graduate I will have to apply for a loan or go to an important meeting that I have to dress up for, so I use this knowledge throughout my
