Reason two on why the age-old tradition of public shaming should be left in the past due to negative impacts is professionally. For individuals who have a job, this can directly impact their work and reputation depending on the impact of their negative action. In Source A, The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne was not allowed to make wedding dresses due to her committed sin of having a child unmarried while she was not married and this was not the “Puritan” ways. Hester’s sin showed that it had not just a social impact but had an impact on her job being a seamstress. She was not able to make wedding dresses anymore because of this. This quote shows how Hester couldn 't make a bridal veil, “But it is recorded that, in a single instance, her skill was called in aid to embroider the white veil which was to cover the pure blushes of her bride.” The quote is explaining how the bride does not want Hester to make her wedding veil, but the Puritans are oaky with any other clothing pieces she has to work with. The expectation indicated the ever- relentless rigor with which society frowned upon her sin. Additionally, in Source B the dentist did not go to his office or answer any phone call. It seems to show that he disappeared, which has effects on his job. The dentist won’t face his life anymore because he doesn’t want to have to deal with all the comments others have to say are humiliating. This impact on his professional life is major and shows that he has left his job. In Source C, the article “Is Internet a Mob without Consequences?” Justine Sacco was fired from her job, due to all the impact of social media and the word being spread about her tweet after her flight to Africa when she reached Africa she found out she was fried, the quote in the article states, “... Was fired from her job, effective

In many cases these women were accused by society that they had used witchcraft to hurt the family. The inability for people to safely have a kid with the mother and the child surviving the majority of the time made the family want to blame someone. Once a woman was accused of witchcraft anything misfortunate that happens when she is around is going to come back to her. These midwives though were not targeted unless they were already in question because of their inability to conform to Puritan Society.…

Also, people can become aggressive and tend to attack and belittle others in order to save themselves from shame, they believe that is portentous for them.
