On this question I believe that people would want to make the district were one political party would not have complete control over it. Most americans want to make sure that their representatives uphold their believes. If you draw a district a certain way, you could mute the voices of many voters. According to the Public Policy Polling report, most North Carolinians support a independent commission, and that proves my initial prediction. This relates to democracy because the way a district is drawn can effect the way a someone from a certain political party is elected. That can cause one party to control to be in complete power on who gets elected in a district and causes the minority to be powerless.

According to a Gallup poll in 2011, 62% of Americans say it is outdated and needs to be changed. Only 35%, say they would keep the Electoral College. Democrats in the poll are more willing to change it with 75% agreeing while 56% of Republicans agree with the change. This relates to democracy because people question the electoral college.
