Public Involvement Process By Mike Bartusek

Michael,
I have to agree with you, this was a challenging yet rewarding semester! Honestly, I love classes like this because at the end of the semester I end up taking so much with me to use at work and home. In addition, I really enjoyed Dr. Thomas pushing our minds to think more critically about our adaptive plans and expanding our limited points of view when dealing with adaptive management. The readings supported the lesson’s we learned each week and were great aid’s in reassessing and advancing components of our plan. Coincidently, I wrote on the Public Involvement Process by Mike Bartusek for this week’s forum assignment. Bartusek’s article was short and brief but informative and a great resource for those learning how to effectively

Coming in to taking this VUSM class I thought it would just be another required VUSM that I just wanted to get through and get an easy A. This class not only taught me about people who lived differently than me, but it gave me the chance to put myself into somebody else’s shoes in ways I never would have done without this class. Other VUSM classes require you to find a place to volunteer at and count a certain amount of hours and those places are nice and you have the possibility to learn a lot about things, but the way Frank Kronke set up this class it made you learn a lot more about yourself as a person than it did anything else. We learned about how we view the world and the power we have to change things that need changing. We learned a…

Where did it go? What is it being used for is my question. There expenses are normal, everything added up correctly, but it’s still strange. On every site I have looked at it says they earn up to 4 billion dollars, but yet on a couple million goes to helping out the families in need.…

In reflecting and processing the various topics covered in this class throughout the semester, my understanding of what it means to be an effective agent of change has always come back to the foundation. The “Dynamic Triangle of Change” introduced by Junius Williams forms the framework of the process an effective and ineffective change agent moves through in order to reform one’s surroundings. Information, perception, and action make up the three elements of this triangle. During this semester, the importance of these elements has been presented inside and outside the classroom. Before seeing the importance of the triangle, understanding of the elements and how they are positively manifested had to be formed.…

This, indeed, is the best part of this course! The intense brainstorming discussions, differing views on strategies, and stimulating arguments during our Markstrat group meetings provided me with great a learning experience. Case study write-ups are the next best part of this course; they provided me with an opportunity to dissect and analyze real world business scenarios, further enhancing the concepts we learned in the classroom. Overall, it has been an enjoyable and enriching learning…

I have discovered the areas that I have been successful in as well as the many areas that I will need to make improvements. For example, prior to this class I had no knowledge of the X and Y theories. Now I realize that I operated with the mindset of a theory X manager and had the same thought process about all employees collectively, which in return made me less effective and resulted in not reaching maximum production. I currently will apply this knowledge to communicate more effectively with my current managers and to better recognize what theory they most resemble and why they interact with me on the level that they do. This class will also assist me greatly in my future goals to own a business in which I possibly will have to manage multiple people in different departments.…

The Power of Collaboration “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is process, but working together is success” (Henry Ford, Brainy Quotes). Throughout the first couple weeks of college, I expected to figure out everything out on my own without help from anyone else. However as it may be the case in some circumstances, I can surely tell you that classes like English 100Y definitely does not hinder the concept of teamwork or collaboration. Throughout the semester we have been exposed to a variety of group based activities and challenges. These collaborative assignments help benefit the students with the capability to attack challenges in the future whether it be in another class or life itself.…
