Public Health Solutions (PHS) is one of the country's largest public health institutes and one of New York's leading non-profit organizations. For example, the organization operates the Assessment and Referral Team (ART), which provides time-limited, home-based, specialized case management services for individuals with HIV/AIDS, a serious mental illness, and significant unmet needs. Another example is a Neighborhood WIC program, which serves more than 46,000 families through its nine WIC centers, providing low-income pregnant women, infants, and children up to age five who are at nutritional risk with supplemental food, nutrition education, counseling and referrals to social services and assistance with obtaining health insurance coverage. One of the organization’s success that PHS became the new home of School Food FOCUS, which works with school districts, community, and private partners, and all levels of government to bring healthier and more sustainably produced food to urban school children nationwide. In 2013, PHS celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the legislation that made most workplaces in New York City smoke-free, including bars and restaurants. In order to build healthier communities in New York City, the organization has a Research and Evaluation Team that conducts formative research, program monitoring, and outcome evaluations for both internal and external programs using a broad range of methodologies from quasi-experimental pre/post-test
