I am applying to the masters of Public Health program at Oakland University because I believe that this is the field that satiate my zeal to working for prevention and health promotion of community.
Since my early childhood, I am inclined towards the applied aspects of medical field. Being motivated internally towards medical field, I choose Biology as a major in higher secondary education. Afterwards, to be more specific, I selected Bachelor of Science in Nursing as a pathway to lead to my future career. I got enrolled in " B. Sc. Nursing " program with a full assistantship in Pokhara University, Nepal becoming the highest scorer of the entrance examination.

I have conducted a survey residing in Tityang-9 community and conducted a door to door campaign for assessment of community health and data collection. I along with my team conducted health assessment, planning , implementation and evaluation of our health action. There, I have conducted a health education program for maintaining " Menstrual Hygiene" among the teenage girls. We conducted the free health camp of "dental examination" among the students studying at "local Primary School". We made our "Community diagnosis" program accomplished in collaboration with the "Baglung District Hospital", "Tityang Primary Health Care Centre", "Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre"and "District Health …show more content…

Along with my ardor towards adopting my knowledge and skill in working for well-being of community, my husband's enrollment in the Ph.D., Medical Physics program at Oakland University favored me to prioritize this University for continuing my higher education degree . As he will be spending at least 4-5 years of his academic career in this university, I would be more than thankful if the same university would provide me the plateform for my academia so that we both would be able to live together and study.
To conclude, I believe that my intense desire to serve for community people can be bloosomed through gaining highly sophisticated degree in master of public health and applying my knowlege and skills in implementing them. If I receive an admission with an assistantships offer from your esteemed program, I would like to focus myself in community based research
