Prescription Drug Overdose Prescription drugs are used on a daily basis by millions of Americans to sustain life, improve health, and cure various health problems. As much as prescription drugs are a benefit to our nation, they are also abused by a large population of people. The misuse of prescription drugs not only poses a risk for the abusers themselves, but to those around them. Accidents, actions of misconduct, and death are all possible results of prescription drug misuse and overdose. Prescription drugs can be abused in many ways. One way is by taking a medication that has been prescribed for somebody else. Unaware of the dangers of sharing medications, people often unknowingly contribute to this form of abuse by sharing their unused pain relievers with their family members. 100% of prescription drug will receive information on the use of specific drugs, also stating the harmful effects of misusing prescription medications.
2. 100% of prescription drug users will be told about specific safety precautions when having medications. Such as storing them in a place where children, grandchildren, etc. can 't have access to them.
3. Specifically inform teenagers about the harmful effects and chance of addiction to prescription drugs. Warn them of also later becoming addicted to drugs such as heroin, because of the misuse of prescription medications.
- To make teenagers aware of this public health problem I would involve local high schools and encourage them to discuss these issues with students.
- Involving the local police departments and sheriffs office to encourage them to also make the public aware of this issue.
- I would try to place flyers or brochures in doctors offices, dental offices, health clinics and other facilities where the public may be to warm this of this public health problem.
