It brings in new goods, ideas, and people, but trade is killing the American employment. Trade with countries that can do the same job, but for less than half of the cost to pay workers. This leaves the USA work force at a great disadvantage. The USA needs to change its globalization trade policies to require that, to trade with the USA you workers must be paid competitive wages to the US and work in safe, regulated places.
Market management is crucial to the US’s longevity. Like in trade we should require nations to adhere to certain standards, but if they don’t this leaves the us at a disadvantage. Per Thomas Heffner we have giving our market power away to the WORLD Trade Organization, which killed the US with “free trade” agreements like NAFTA and KORUS. These agreements took jobs and infrastructure overseas almost immediately. The US should make new agreements that protect the wealth and employees here.
