Before becoming a student at Johns Hopkins, my previous work experiences spanned a range from academia, to on-the-ground field programming, to the governmental public health workforce internationally and in the US. My interest in innovative, collaborative, and multidisciplinary research led me to perform meta-analyses with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, design and coordinate household vulnerability surveys in Ethiopia, conduct varied geospatial analysis research, and work with HIV and maternal health programs both in Uganda and in Baltimore City. My coursework in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and evaluation has taught me that increasingly novel and rigorous methods are required to capture and illustrate data in communities. Our world has become both more connected and more divisive with technology, and I believe learning from experts about best practices and most innovative methods in the field will be essential to successfully addressing gaps in health access and identifying the needs of the vulnerable in honest and effective ways.
