The Zumba class was scheduled every Monday after lunch. Preceding the Zumba was blood pressure checks for the residents. Our work was made easier by the management of the facility, whose goals was similar to ours; promote healthy living through community activities and exercise. The management of this facility goes above and beyond to set up health programs that educate residents about the needs to stay healthy. Once that was identified we developed strategies to work around this obstacle. One of the remedies was to use the manager or the facility, Diana to translate/interpret for us. In order to attain a higher number of participants and make the process fun, we incorporated our teaching topic with the Zumba class. Our teaching focused on ways to control high blood pressure. We discussed the need to cut back of salt and reading of labels for low sodium products, the need to check blood pressure regularly, the importance of exercises and last not the least, medication
