“Backyard Patio” - Here MADD focus on how impaired driving cannot only be dangerous to the impaired person, but can be fatal to others as well. An outdoor birthday party is depicted, and, as the candles on the cake are being blown out, a car drives thorough a wood fence and into the patio. Multiple members of the celebration are shown lying on the ground, while one is calling for help, explaining that at least one person is “not breathing.” MADD again utilizes the method of showing how impaired driving can completely alter an event, and ultimately, people's lives. At one moment, the people pictured are enjoying a birthday celebration, while at the next, at least one person is likely to have been fatally injured.…

Paul Goldberger opens his essay by explaining the great depth that architecture emerges into art. My attention was immediately grabbed when he was explaining how architecture, “can be as tiny a gesture as painting the front door of a house red or grand as undertaking as creating the rose window of a cathedral”. He was explaining how architecture has no standard minimum or limitation within the design. Goldberger is supporting his evidence alongside how Frank Lloyd Wright explained how he modernized the American prairie. Goldberger explains how versatile architecture can be by comparing an architect’s style of design being implemented into a completely contradictory region and still coexisting.…

If I were the mayor of the city Marlborough, I would add a community garden to our city in hopes of fixing the current issue of not enough teen involvement in our city. I think a community garden would be really beneficial to our community, especially for the youth in it. A community garden is easy to build and needs little to no funding from the city. The early part of the period was focused on an approach by a group of architects who desired to reflect historical precedents and develop something completely new during their time. Instead of focusing on the traditional architecture such as ornaments, the architects during that time created a new aesthetic look using new materials and new structural approaches. This time of growth was captured in the 1961 The Harris Trust and Savings bank, in Chicago, in which the buildings not only showcased the new material and structural methods but also captured the progressive attitudes to design.…

I never intended to study architecture. When I was applying to colleges, I intended to study kinesiology and psychology. Studying dance and photography when I was younger gave me a desire to be expressive, and even though I felt a connection to the physicality of dance through kinesiology, I knew I wanted to do something that fulfilled that same sense of expression. It wasn’t until I studied architecture that I noticed some of its similarities with dance. Dance is expressive of the body, but it is also an observation of people’s interaction with each other and with their surroundings, a study of people’s movement through space.…
