Problem Statement
Veterans and many other people with disabilities use video games as a form of therapy and sometimes for recreation. There are a number of different limitations that veterans or disabled people can have when trying to play video games. In some cases, people are not fully able to play video games that involve either motion tracking or pushing buttons due to the extent of their disabilities. This can cause the therapy involved with playing video games to be less effective, and the recreation involved to be less enjoyable

After serving in the military, the US Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that between 11% and 20% of service members will develop some sort of PTSD. This PTSD will affect the veterans in their everyday lives, and some symptoms of the PTSD are reliving their events, having nightmares, sleeping problems, and difficulty concentrating, all of which may lead to alcohol or drug abuse (Biron). The reason why some veterans play video games is to help aid them in their struggles with PTSD. Playing video games helps the veterans deal with their PTSD because it directs their attention to engaging stories or action that involves no bodily harm, which helps them to forget about the trauma that they have been through (How video games assist war veterans and active duty soldiers). Veterans (and other disabled gamers) can sometimes have difficulties playing video games because of their limitations. These limitations can vary widely from person to person, but some general limitations people have when playing video games are vision impairments, minor impairments such as a broken hand, or permanent impairments such as only having one hand, not being able to walk, etc. (Chin). A survey conducted by the Information Solutions Group of PopCap Games found that more than one in five (20.5%) players who played causal video games had some sort of physical, mental, or developmental disability
