Psychology + scientific method = critical thinking
Scientific evidence is important because it is quantifiable and empirical evidence that sets precedent and new ground. Critical thinking stems from using fact in order to generate discussion. For this reason, psychology is always developing and critical thinking allows for alternative discussion to be developed, then go into case studies of how this has happened in the past. Psychology studies the human mind and human behaviors and responses to different situations, the scientific method is a bit longer, but it's generally a procedure that involves observation, measuring and experimenting, along with formulating a hypothesis. Many people believe in aliens, but there isn’t solid evidence that they truly exist. This is where psychology comes in, where we have these paranormal claims, such as healing powers, reading minds, or moving objects without touching them. And this is tested in psychology to examine if this is possible, is it true? This is when it’ll have to be tested, and the scientists would most likely use the scientific method, which would follow to perceive the question, forming a hypothesis, testing the hypothesis drawing conclusion, and reporting the results (White 41). The scientist must constantly ask themselves plenty of questions, whether it’s to know both sides of the story, knowing the new evidence, and basically looking what’s right in front of them and use basic logic.
