As well as being interested in psychology, I also believe in the importance of equality for each gender, race and sexuality. I have demonstrated my commitment to these issues by participating in events such as LGBT pride as well as volunteering in charities such as YMCA and Mayfair House, helping to raise money and preparing food for the homeless. By volunteering multiple times to the charity Save the Children, which focuses on bettering the lives of children across the world, I have become aware of the troubling and harsh conditions that the youth of today face. This has opened my eyes to the positive implications that child psychology and developmental psychology, an area I am also interested in, is able to bring to children facing hardship in their lives. …show more content…
I have also chosen to take part in forensic psychology, an enrichment I am deeply captivated by and has led me to do further reading on the justice system and the British ‘bottom up’ approach, created by psychologists; which focuses on the characteristics of the crime rather than the criminal.
