Psychology Class Analysis

This class was one of the more challenging classes I took this term. It took me out of my element. I have mostly taken classes in the psychology department and not neuroscience. With that being said I did enjoy the class. It opened my mind up to the different aspects of psychology. I was a little behind on some of the topics we discussed in class and found myself looking up words i did not know. This helped me understand the articles better because I was not questioning what important words or aspects of the articles were, I knew the meanings. Overall I enjoyed the topics we covered in this class and the articles that we read. I have learned a lot from this class. I especially enjoyed our last section on alzheimer's disease. I did not always enjoy typing them up, but I think it really added to the class. I was able to think deeper about the articles we read for class. I also liked reading other’s posts. It was helpful to see other’s opinions on the articles and questions they had regarding the topics. I was able to post my questions right after reading them and then get a better explanation during class. I also loved how this class was discussion based instead of a lecture. This made the class material easier to understand. Answering the questions the discussion leaders had beforehand was also an added bonus. We were able to focus in readings to what was important for the big picture concepts of each article. I do not remember specific details of each of the articles, but I do remember the big pictures and the connections between the articles we read in …show more content…
I was able to do research on a topic I was interested in and connected it to brain functioning and different aspects associated with it. It was helpful to have specific days set aside to prepare us for the project along with have assignments due as mini steps in the process. This projected helped me get a better understanding not only in my topic, but also everything that goes into a research based grant proposal. My favorite part of the project was creating the poster. I was in 4H for thirteen years and I did poster projects for the fair. It seemed like seconed nature creating the board and putting all my informations

Honestly I think i didn't learn a whole lot. Also I have learned that I definitely do not like doing research papers. I think that we should do something more enjoyable other than writing a few page miniature essay about a topic that you like, I think that if we do this we should be given a topic we do not know much about. This would help because it would give us greater experience on how to search a topic other than on something we might know a lot about. But that is just how I feel, to me I hate to do anything English class related I would much rather be in a class that I enjoy no…

Professor Pizarro was very engaging, funny, and his passion for his subject came through in his teaching. I even read the course textbook (one of the few textbooks I thoroughly enjoyed reading). This course really interested me in psychology and has driven me to sign up for more psychology courses and look into psychology research oppportunities. In high school, I was a tutor and a dance teacher. I really enjoyed both of these positions because I was able to help people understand and apprectiate subjects (and art forms)…

It has taught me to be patient with my writing and that procrastination will only affect my grade in a poor manner. I’ve learned that research is everything because it extends your paper so the reader can get a better understanding. I’ve achieved great things in English and I’m happy I decided to take this class because I wouldn’t have received everything that I know now. Seeking help, asking questions, doing an infinite amount of research, and using my time wisely is what I’ve learned and…

This course has been very rewarding; I came into this course not knowing anything about APA format, had poor writing skills, and very little knowledge on courage, caring, and team building. Now at the end of the semester after taking this course I am confident in APA format and I have learned so much about courage, caring, and team building. Being a pre-nursing student this course is very rewarding because you get to see how courage, caring, and team building play a huge role in nursing. I think reading the two books was what I enjoyed most about this course.…

Another class that is helping me grow as a student through skills for academic success is AP Calculus. I’ve always been sort of good at math but this class was nothing I had expected it to be. Typically, in math you learn the rule or the formula and then you just use it straightforward. Calculus is anything but straightforward. In this class you learn the rule and formula…

Learning different modes of writing and putting them into practice will allow me to be able to approach different subjects with an appropriate style. Although I had learned to use only academically credible sources before, I had become too lax and this class put me back on the right track of being aware. I have only done papers in APA format for the past two years, so this class was a nice refresher on MLA format. I think it’s important to be fluent in both; while in college you never know if different teachers will require a different format than others. Beyond improving my writing ability, this class achieved its critical thinking development goal as well.…

Writing has always been a struggle for me for as long as I can remember. I find it difficult to put my thoughts on a paper, especially if I have to do it in another language. Some people think that as long as they can speak a language or communicate with other people, it is enough. However, these people are totally wrong. People do not only need to speak a language fluently, but they also have to be able to write it.…
